NanoSteel to Exhibit at 2006 Oil Sands Trade Show & Conference
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Wednesday, September 6, 2006) - The NanoSteel Company, a leading producer of nanostructured steel alloy materials for industrial applications, announces that it will exhibit in Booth 1618 at the 2006 Oil Sands Trade Show & Conference at McDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, September 12-13.
NanoSteel will introduce its patented Super Hard Steel (SHS) weld overlay line for GMAW, OAW and PTAW hardfacing applications during the show. NanoSteel’s SHS weld products have no tungsten carbide, no nickel and no matrix, yet they offer a unique combination of high hardness <70 HRc and significant toughness. These attributes make NanoSteel’s SHS weld products an excellent alternative to tungsten carbide materials for use in extreme environments where severe abrasion and impact are encountered.
“Our SHS weld products are unique because they provide a combination of extreme wear and impact resistance not presently offered by anyone else in the industry,” said David Paratore, president and CEO. “When you compare the value of SHS to tungsten carbide materials, our weld products are stable, long-term solutions that retain maximum hardness and wear resistance throughout every weld layer.”
Similar to its award-winning HVOF and TWAS thermal spray products, NanoSteel’s weld products are applied with standard industrial processes and do not require special equipment or facilities.
NanoSteel’s first patented weld product was developed in partnership with Grant PrideCo, Inc., which markets the SHS iron based steel alloy in the petroleum industry as a hardband material for downhole drilling under the name Platinum™ HB. The NanoSteel Company, Inc., headquartered in Providence, R.I., develops and markets a range of patented SHS nanostructured materials that can be applied with a variety of widely available industrial processes, including thermal spraying, welding and laser cladding. NanoSteel’s proprietary alloys cost effectively solve or alleviate many of the problems that have a destructive or costly impact on industry today, including wear, erosion, high temperature oxidation and corrosion.
