Patented Iron-Based Steel Alloys for Wear and Corrosion
NanoSteel currently has a portfolio of patented iron-based steel alloy coating/overlay solutions for wear and corrosion that are based on its award winning and proprietary Super Hard Steel® (SHS) technology.

Available in atomized powder, cored wire and wear plate forms, SHS alloys can be applied by HVOF and TWAS thermal spraying processes to produce thin protective coatings ranging typically from 5 - 30 mils in thickness, and PTAW, GMAW and OAW weld overlays that can be built up to a typical thickness of 1/8” - 1/2” for hardfacing and wear plate applications.

SHS alloys feature a refined amorphous or nanoscale microstructure that provides improved wear and corrosion performance characteristics superior to conventional steels. SHS alloys for thermal spraying feature a nano sized (10 - 100 nm) microstructure and SHS alloys for weld overlay applications feature a near-nano sized, micron to submicron (≤ 400 nm) microstructure.

The refined microstructures of SHS alloys improve toughness, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance to allow for extreme damage tolerance in a wide variety of industrial applications.
