Overlay Wear Plate |
Exceptional Sliding and Slurry Abrasion Resistance |
NanoSteel® overlay wear plate is designed to provide exceptional wear performance in extreme industrial service environments.
|
NanoSteel’s patented SHS 9800 alloy is applied as weld overlay hardfacing to a steel substrate by an automated submerged arc welding process developed by Trimay® Wear Plate Ltd. using technology under license from The NanoSteel Company.
Nanotechnology Enhances Properties
A nanocrystalline microstructure with grain sizes refined to a near nanoscale (≤ 400 nm) results in a unique combination of high hardness and high toughness properties which greatly enhance performance.
Key Performance Characteristics
• Exceptional resistance to severe sliding & slurry abrasion
• 66 - 71 HRc hardness in single and double pass deposits
• Toughness equivalent to 400 Brinell Q&T plate
• Forming/cutting response similar to standard CrC plate
• Better price/performance ratio over competing materials

|
| Welding at Seams |
Overlay SHS 9800 wire on any weld seams to prevent wear caused by undercutting |
|
|
| Cutting |
Can be cut by CNC plasma, hand held plasma and water jet methods
For less precise applications, overlay can be removed by carbon arc gouging
Cannot be flame cut and non-machinable |
|
|
| Forming |
Roll forming is the preferred method, press braking may be used for some applications and should only be performed with a hydraulic press break |
