NanoSteel’s portfolio of 3rd Generation  Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) for the automotive industry features both high strength for part thickness reduction and enhanced formability for innovative new part designs. This combination of properties can provide vehicle weight reduction while maintaining stiffness, ride quality and safety.

Uses Existing Manufacturing Processes

The high formability of NanoSteel's 3rd Generation Advanced High Strength Steel also allows automakers to leverage their existing manufacturing infrastructure and extend the technical capabilities of cold formable steels.

NanoSteel’s Advanced High Strength Steel is designed to be produced in both thin and thick slab casting facilities using conventional processing and capital equipment for liquid steel, casting, rolling, and heat treatments. Click here to learn more about our AHSS processing.

The first sheet steel to be released features strength of approximately 1200 MPa and elongation of over 40%. Production trials with joint development partner AK Steel have been completed and samples of this introductory offering are being made available to automakers for initial testing. In addition to the tensile properties, preliminary testing demonstrates bendability and biaxial strain characteristics substantially beyond other advanced high strength steels available today. Click here to learn more about the AHSS testing process.
